Preparation is the first step to your success!
Make sure you fully prepare yourself before you go out and attempt to be an affiliate marketer. What most of us do is get excited about making more money and want to start right away! Where it is admirable to be excited and to do what most are unwilling to do which is take a risk and get out of their comfort zone to be your own boss. Understand that you need to think and plan before you execute your affiliate marketing program.
First you need to find some strong affiliate programs that pay well on either a purchase or a lead. Before you commit to what you think is a strong affiliate campaign you also need to research competition. Also, if you are passionate about something and have in depth knowledge on a subject then find an affiliate program for that! Remember, content is king!
So how do you research competition? The main thing to do is find out how many advertisers are competing for keywords that you would have to use to generate traffic to your affiliate site. Stay away from keywords and phrases that have a lot of competition. If you can't be at the top or near the top of the pay per click ads then you need to avoid those keywords. Driving traffic to your website is the number one key to your success. Traffic is your oxygen! Find the niche keywords that are related to your product and utilize misspellings! You can get a great ROI on your affiliate marketing products by using misspellings.
So where do you find the source of this information to help you determine what keywords you are going to use? They are on our resources page so when you ar done reviewing the tips check out our resource page. DO NOT GO NOW THOUGH, stay discliplined, learn before you start implementing. Crawl, walk, run, sprint! Get it, if not then have fun spending thousands of dollars before you learn the hard way.
Once you have determined what you want to sell then you need a website. This is where most of us get stuck. If you are like us you have zero web building experience but you have options! Templates, wysiwyg (what you see is what you get), html editors! Many options. If you can use Microsoft Word then you can build a website. On our resources page you will find different options but my personal favorite is grabbing a template and then you just simply start typing away. The second most thing for affiliate marketing is execution so find a source to build the website, master everything they have to offer and you can then start building your first website.
Where do you advertise? Search engines are the easiest place to start. Google, Yahoo, MSN and plenty of tier 2 search engines. Also research some content sites and as long as you are not directly competing with those sites reach out to them and see if they would be willing to advertise your product for a commission! If they say no then you are no worse off than you were before you called or emailed them.
